Back Celebrate International Forest Day with LIFE TECMINE

Celebrate International Forest Day with LIFE TECMINE

21 March is the International Forest Day, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of forests, the functions they perform, the causes that threaten their disappearance and the ecological, economic and social benefits that they provide to us.

The theme for 2021 is: "Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being".

In addition, the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, which starts this year, is to prevent, halt and reverse ecosystem degradation worldwide

The LIFE TECMINE project contributes to this important challenge through the restoration of 13.4 hectares in a mining area. Using innovative techniques, we have reclaimed a degraded area and put in place a new natural ecosystem that offers multiple benefits.

The new landscape of the Fortuna mine protects the soil against erosion, captures carbon from the atmosphere, is the new home to a wide diversity of wildlife species and is a new place of recreation for local people and visitors.

We want to celebrate with you the important role of forests and the contribution of the LIFE TECMINE project to forest recovery and conservation.

We invite you to celebrate and participate in the International Day of Forests

Let's show the world that our forests matter to us!

How can I participate?

Throughout the month of March:

  • Post a photo on your social networks showing how you celebrate Forest Day, tell what forests bring to your life, mention LIFE TECMINE and use the hashtag #IntlForestDay.
  • If you prefer, send a photo by e-mail showing how you celebrate forest day and tell us what forests bring to your life and we will publish it on our social media. Email address: lifetecmine@vaersa.org
